Monterey Sports Car Championships at Laguna Seca has ended 2005 American Le Mans Series racing with corvettes 45 victory and 31st 1-2 finish, as Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell finished second in the No.3 Compuware Corvette C6-R, Gavin and Beretta won the 2005 championship by 19 point margin over their teammates(C6R#3 - 177 pts, C6R#4 - 196 pts). GM Announces Corvette Chief Engineer David Hill to Retire. Tom Wallace to lead performance car team.
David Hill DETROIT - General Motors Corp. announced today that David Hill, currently GM vehicle chief engineer (VCE) for Corvette and vehicle line executive (VLE) for performance cars, will retire effective Jan. 1, 2006 after more than 41 years of dedicated service, click here for more. |

Corvette Racing media pictures from 2005 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta are now up, Corvette C6R #4 driven by Olivier Beretta, Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen won the 2005 Petit Le mans GT1 class, followed by Aston Martin DB9R in second place and Acemco Saleen S7R coming in third place. Corvette C6R #3 with Ron Fellows, Johnny O'Connell and Max Papisbehind the wheel retired after 357 laps due to engine failure. They did it again! Both Corvette C6R's dominated the GT1 class of American Le Mans Series at 2005 Mosport Grand Prix, with C6R #4 driven by Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin taking the first place and C6R #3 driven by Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell coming in second place. The C6R wasn't the fastest car on the track though, Acemco Saleen S7R was, which was in front of corvettes for the most of the race. Faster pit stops and better strategy is what Corvette Racing had during the race and thats why they won. Good luck to Corvette Racing at 2005 Road Atlanta! Corvette C5R comes first in FIA GT series on Italian track Imola! 550 Ferrari Maranello comes second with the gap of whole 19 seconds, and 24 seconds later Maserati MC12 GT1 comes in third.
